Over the past few months, Connexus has been working to create a vibrant and active community hub for our customers at Hereford's housing for older people scheme in Innesfield.

This week Richard Woolley, CEO, Sara Woodall, director of customer experience and Sian Davies, customer experience officer at Connexus joined residents to help give the community centre a fresh new look. Huws Gray, generously provided the paint, which was used to paint the communal room to create a welcoming atmosphere.

Connexus’ commitment to making this space comfortable and functional led to providing carpets, curtains, leather sofas, a fully-equipped kitchen, a washing machine, a dryer, and even two fridges donated from the old Herefordshire office.

Connexus is immensely proud of the local residents who've come together and formed an active Innesfield Community Group. They've worked tirelessly, raising funds themselves to enhance this space for everyone to enjoy. This transformation was made possible thanks to the hard work and dedication of the community members themselves.

Currently, the community group boasts a membership of 20 individuals, and they’re eager to welcome more locals. They believe in the power of friendship and support, and their weekly group sessions are designed to foster just that. Here's a glimpse of what they offer:

Weekly Group Sessions:

  • Bingo on Wednesdays (12:30 PM – 2:30 PM
  • Coffee & Craft on Thursdays (10:00 AM – 12:00 PM)
  • Other events on Saturdays (6:30 PM – 9:00 PM)

Their events range from bingo and race nights to quiz and curry evenings. During the holiday season, they host a Christmas fayre where you can find homemade decorations, treats, and unique Christmas gifts. Additionally, they organide day trips and lunch outing, using the funds raised to support our members in purchasing items for their homes, making every day a little brighter.

If you're a local resident looking to make new friends, share experiences, or simply enjoy the warmth of a close community, Innesfield Community Group extend a warm invitation to join them.
